Color Psychology – The Perceptions and the Realities

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Friday 31 October 2008 5:06 pm

In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton discovered that when a beam of White light passes through a Prism, it scatters into a Spectrum of seven colors, which cannot be further sub-divided. This Spectrum gave us colors, which are a riot among artists.

Every color has its own effect and universal meaning on the minds of different individuals. This exploratory aspect of colors vis-à-vis our emotional state is called Color Psychology. In the Color Spectrum, the colors in the Red Zone are called Warm Colors, for example, Yellow, Red, and Orange. The Warm Colors reflect emotions such as, the feelings of comfort warmth, & affection, to the feelings of hostility and anger. The colors in the Blue Zone of the Spectrum are on the other hand, described as Cool Colors. This side of spectrum includes colors such as, Blue, Green, and Purple. They evoke the feelings of calmness and even indifference & sadness.

Cultures also affect human psychology, which in turn devise their own connotation vis-à-vis colors. Different colors have different meanings in different cultures. Over the years however, with changing values and beliefs, the meaning of colors changed. The researchers developed some standard meanings of colors, and the following seem to be the most accurate:

• Red. It is the most intense color that stimulates breathing, and increases heartbeat. This color always attracts attention and is therefore, mostly used in decorations. Red however may not represent confrontations and negotiations.
• Green. The human eye can distinguish Green color very easily. Green symbolizes nature. It helps in relaxing & refreshing the mind, and the body. This in turn improves eyesight and calms down the mind. For instance, hospitals use Green color often, as it as it relaxes patients. Offices have greenery as an integral part of their interiors to keep the employees charged up. Artists generally relax in ‘Green Rooms’ before their performance.
• Blue. Blue is one of the most popular colors. It is peaceful and produces calming chemicals in the human body. It symbolizes loyalty, so it is recommended to wear a Blue dress for any interview. People in Blue Rooms are more productive. For instance, it has been proven that weightlifters can handle more weights than the usual in gyms with Blue walls. Higher or deeper tones of it however, may also be depressing and cold. Blue reflects truthfulness, unity, and harmony.
• Yellow. This color grabs attention easily. It speeds up Metabolism. Yellow improves concentration, but can be overpowering if it is overused. In the Middle Ages however, it was believed that Yellow reflects the devil. It was the color of mourning in Egypt.
• Brown. This is the color of Earth. It reflects reliability and genuineness. It is abundant in nature and can be wistful and sad.
• Purple. Purple signifies wealth, luxury, royalty, and romance. It was the favorite color of the Queen Cleopatra of Egypt. Purple is however, considered to be the color of mourning in Thailand.
• White. White is a simmer color and reflects purity, peace, freedom, and innocence. It symbolizes sterility and is therefore, used in hospitals. In India, White symbolizes death and mourning.
• Black. This is the color of power and authority and is the most common color. It symbolizes submission and is used by priests. Black can also however be overpowering and implies evil.

Color Psychology has such strong presence that colors are used for alluded treatment as well, a field called Chromotherapy. Chromotherapy, referred to as Colorology or Light Therapy, was practiced by various ancient cultures especially, Chinese, Egyptians, and Indians. The civilizations of these countries used this Therapy through various colors to heal the body. Some key colors used in this treatment are:

• Red. Increases Blood Circulation, thereby stimulating Mind and Body.
• Yellow. Used as Blood Purifier and stimulates Nerves.
• Orange. It helps increase energy and heals Lungs.
• Blue. Reduces pain and soothes illness.
• Indigo. It helps treat Skin problems.

As mentioned above, Color Psychology often varies with place, time, culture, and mentality. For instance, White, in India is considered as a color of mourning and death, while Red symbolizes fertility. In China however, Red color is used for luck and prosperity. Whatever be the case, studies suggest that the colors mostly have a positive effect on Psychology, rather than negative.

Controversies however always surrounded Arts and they continue to do so here too. According to many Psychologists, Chromotherapy was exaggerated. They believed that there is no solid scientific proof of the effects of different colors on human Psychology. Many more Theorists gave their thoughts on the subject, but mostly contradicted each other. It is however, overall seen that a particular color may have different effects on the people of different age groups, even if they are of same culture. All said and done, the field of Color Psychology is still immature and there is a lot left to explore in it.

The Best Weight Loss Supplements

Are you trying to lose weight but are left feeling somewhat confused by the variety of appetite suppressors, metabolic stimulators and fat removers that you can use? In order to help you determine which is best for you we give a brief description of each kind and how they can help.

Appetite Suppressants

A large number of people feel that these supplements which help to reduce their cravings are the most effective when trying to lose weight. The most popular of the appetite suppressors one can get today are as follows:-

1. Chromium Polynicontainate: This is found in foods like sweet potatoes, broccoli, apples and corn on the cob. It helps to reduce a person’s cravings by regulating the levels of blood sugar in their bodies.

2. L Tyrosine: Is a non-essential amino acid also known as protein and found not just in dairy products but meat, fish, oats and wheat’s and is able to help suppress a person’s appetite.

3. Glutamine Absolute: This is another amino acid supplement that is designed not only to suppress one’s appetite, but also boosts the immune system and assists in recovery from illnesses. Although you can find glutamine in foods like beans, fish, chicken, beef, dairy, beets and cabbage it is only in its purest form does this really work effectively.

These supplements are ideal for people who are trying to avoid the pitfalls of dieting, but will not be effective for those who are looking to breakdown the fat deposits that are stored within their bodies.

Metabolic Supporters

These are specifically designed to aid the body and improve the metabolic system. The ones which are proving most effective at helping to lose weight and of course which are proving popular are as follows:-

1. Vitamin B Supplements: These help to metabolize the carbohydrates and proteins that our body absorbs and are generally found in green leafy vegetables such as cabbage.

2. Co-Enzyme Q10: This is helps to stimulate the metabolism and is found in fish such as mackerel and sardines along with soya beans and nuts.

3. Green and Sea Vegetables: These help to support the body’s metabolism.

4. Multi Vitamins: Again like the above mentioned support your body’s metabolism.

5. Ginseng: Provide the metabolic system with nourishment.

6. Kelp: It provides support to the thyroid gland which is responsible for the way in which the metabolic system in our bodies functions.

7. Fat Stripper Intense: This is a supplement that contains eight ingredients all which metabolize fat straight from the body. It contains both Guarana and Alpha Lipoic are both herbs which contain properties that are effective at burning fat. Plus this particular supplement contains an acid that again helps to regular blood sugar levels.

However you need to be aware that although these supplements are effective they are not always going to be suitable for everyone to use.

Fat Removers

Now we come to the supplements which contain properties that help to break down the stores of fat within the body and as well as being among the most popular the one’s mentioned below are also the most effective.

1. Green Tea: As well as this herb contain properties that break down stored fat but also help to burn of calories as well.

Body Building For Teenagers – Some Tips For Beginners

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Thursday 30 October 2008 9:57 am

When a teen or an adult begins a bodybuilding workout program, planning a safe and workable schedule with a trained professional who are good at producing results is essential.

Once teens get involved in such programs, they learn to be disciplined and dedicated. As well as building up their body, teens also build up their self esteem and confidence at the same time.

The advantages that come along with health training includes the increase in muscular strength and stamina, stronger bones, improved kinesthetic awareness, and they also lower chance of contracting obesity-related conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

When teen athletes grow up, they will retain the health and mental benefits as they had in their teenage years. As well as any other physical sport, bodybuilding helps in creating a healthier mind when teens focus on what they are doing in the course of working out.

For many years, many thought that bodybuilding in the teenage years may cause inadequate growth. People felt that the chance of teenagers getting injured will be reduce if they do it properly, of if that they were trained under the supervision of an adult is not a proven hypothesis.

The main point here is that: Teenagers CAN improve their physical health and mental wellness when supervision is there to support their activity. It is evident that every sport has their potential danger. However, when adult supervision or education is introduced, they may go a long way in reducing the risk that the teens face.

Many people ask me this question: How is teen bodybuilding classified as done “right”? Is it better for teen bodybuilders to learn from professional trainers or just from their peers? Will it benefit them if they follow up the latest bodybuilding magazine? How frequent are the training days? Are supplements required to sustain their bodybuilding activity? When is the suitable age to start bodybuilding? Does concentrating on heavy weights help to gain tolerance? There are both debatable points of extreme sides of this issue.

Centiblab.com is a blog for anyone who wants to learn how to loss weight and are looking for people to share it with.

Cheating – Mother Nature, Personal Accountability, Or Lack of Love and Appreciation?

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Tuesday 28 October 2008 4:03 pm

There are many schools of thought as to why people cheat. When you speak to people who have cheated or been cheated on, there is a lot of pain and anger associated with the breach of trust. Yet, it continues to happen and many couples work through it while others end up breaking up.

There is a new book out “The Truth About Cheating”. The author, M. Gary Neuman, was a guest on the Oprah show. In his book, based on his research he concludes that the main reason men cheat is because they feel unappreciated and unloved by their wives. If a man isn’t feeling appreciated or loved by his partner before he cheats, I have a feeling he won’t feel more loved after she finds out. It’s contradictory to creating the necessary results.

I agree it is important for a woman to show appreciation to her husband. Being happy and authentic with your partner is a great way to show love. However, science has it’s own role that overrides logical thinking when it comes to sex. Husband and wife team of behavioral scientist David P. Barash and psychiatrist Judith Eve Lipton, authors of “The Myth of Monogamy,” believe it is human nature to want to have a variety of lovers and that men choose to discipline themselves by being monogamous to minimize the risk of other sperm fertilizing their wife. In other words, the reason men stay faithful has less to do with feeling loved or appreciated but more about their possessiveness of their wives or financial responsibility for other men’s children.

Based on my experience with my clients, it’s seldom about the wife. One client compared it to breaking his diet. “It’s like fast food, sometimes you are stuck in traffic, your stomach is growling, and you go through the drive-through. The tastes good at the time, and you get a stomachache later. Other times, you go on a binge; eventually you have to get back on track or it affects your health and well being.” Another client said, “My wife is great, our sex is great, there is no reason for me to do this, it’s about me and my own mortality, a mid life crises”. For these men it was a “slip” in personal accountability and commitment to the relationship with their wife. It had nothing to do with love and appreciation.

Even if polygamy is innately natural, where does discipline come in? We are not born potty trained, knowing how to read, write, or drive. We learn to be civilized in order to live comfortably amongst the standards of society or ourselves. I personally like to think we have the gift of compassion. When committed, we consider the feelings of your partner, and choose not to “give in” to being a victim of being unloved, unappreciated, or an animal without self-discipline. Instead, we communicate and use reason to work through the issues to avoid a possible “slip” in character.

The Mirror Technique for Meeting and Picking Up Single Women

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Tuesday 28 October 2008 4:26 am

This is a very effective method of releasing the power of the subconscious mind by using a mirror. This method is very effective in motivating you to meet single women. It can be used to obtain anything you so desire.

Now I will explain the technique. Stand in front of a mirror. The mirror does not have to be full length, but you should at least be able to see yourself from the waste up.

Stand fully erect just like a soldier does when told to come to attention. Now take three or four deep breaths until you feel a sense of enormous strength, power, and determination. Now look into the very depths of your eyes and tell yourself, “Everytime I go to a nightclub I will meet a very special lady that I’m attracted to.” This is just an example of what to tell yourself and be sure to say this aloud so you can see your lips move and hear the words uttered. Also, you can make up your own words and suggestions.

Do this exercise regularly at least twice a day, in the morning and in the evening and you will be astonished at the results. You may augment this by writing any slogans or key words associated with your desires with soap, marks-a-lot, or sticky note on the face of your mirror, such as “LOVE CONNECTION”, “TAKE ACTION”, “SCORE”,etc.

Within a few days after practicing this exercise you will really begin to feel a sense of confidence in yourself and your abilities to meet and pick up single women that you never have felt before.

It is advisable not to tell anyone about your using this method to meet women. There are scoffers and skeptics that may ridicule you and shake your confidence.

Why Women Need to Stick Together

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Monday 27 October 2008 4:19 pm

When you were in high school, chances are you spent a lot of time with your friends. You probably talked on the phone with them regularly, discussing everything from that killer biology exam to your latest crush. Maybe you went shopping together on the weekends, or went to the pool once a week in the summer.

Now that high school is behind you, do you still spend time with your female friends? If you do, that’s wonderful. But many of us stay so busy with our families and careers that maintaining friendships gets pushed to the side. Maybe we’ve grown apart from our old friends, or maybe we’ve moved far away and not made any new ones.

While our families can success at work are fulfilling, we need the support of our peers. Why? Here are a few reasons:

- Sometimes we need a shoulder to cry on. No matter how great things are with your family and job, no one’s life is perfect. When things go wrong, it’s good for us to have someone to talk to about it. Our female friends can give us advice, or they can just lend a sympathetic ear.

- Our family members and significant others do not always share our interests. Having friends that we have interests in common with can give us the opportunity to discuss them without their eyes glazing over.

- You can be yourself with your friends. As wives, mothers, careerwomen, or any combination of those three, women tend to get caught up in the needs of others and forget about the things that make them unique. Friends give us the incentive to revisit the things we’ve been missing.

Connecting With Old Friends and Making New Ones

Old friends that you’ve lost touch with are great for helping you rediscover forgotten interests. You can also reminisce about good times you had in the “old days” with them. So pick up the phone and give them a call, or email them. If you don’t have their current contact information, their families or mutual friends might be able to help.

Making new friends is also good for you. Getting out and meeting new people can really boost your morale. Some good places to make friends include playgroups for the kids, church functions, and PTA meetings.

Even those of us who can’t seem to find the time to leave the house can connect with others, thanks to the Internet. There are lots of online communities where we can go to find women with similar interests. Finding a good group can provide us with peer support that we can access at our convenience.

In today’s impersonal world, it’s more important than ever for women to stick together. Whether it’s in person or via email, connecting with other women can enrich our lives in many ways. So call up an old friend, or make an effort to make some new ones. You’ll be glad you did.

Jockey Scandals

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Monday 27 October 2008 11:01 am

In the final week of 2007 Durham born jockey Robert Thornton became the latest jockey to run afoul of the all-powerful jockey club. His crime was to take a wrong turn at a shrub on the Cheltenham cross-country course, setting off at high speed into no-man’s land.

Whilst this misdemeanour in no way benefited Thornton in the context of the race, the powers that be saw fit to suspend Thornton for 10 days over the Christmas period – one of national hunt racing’s most active and lucrative race periods.

With Thornton now back at the races, and considering employing the services of an onboard GPRS device during his cross country romps, the time appears ripe to investigate some of the more serious contraventions of horseracing law in the last several decades.

Lester Piggott defies the taxman

Born with an unfortunate name but blessed with the greatest talent of his era, jockey Lester Piggott dominated flat racing for over two decades, bringing home winners in all the Classics whilst also claiming the Ascot Gold Cup 11 occasions.

Unfortunately, at some point during this period of unsurpassed success, Lester Piggott made the decision to stop paying taxes. In 1985, the year he quit riding to take up training, Lester Piggott was nabbed by the internal revenue services and sent to jail for three years for tax irregularities amounting to £3.2 million. To add insult to injury, he was forced to return his OBE to the Queen.

After his sojourn in jail, Piggott returned to the racetrack and put in an impressive curtain call, winning two more classics before retiring for a second time in 1995.

Kieren Fallon in a fix

Kieren Fallon was well on his way to establishing himself as one of the greatest Irish jockeys in the history of the sport, taking six Champion Jockey titles before inexplicably deciding to supplement his income by fixing races.

In March of 2004 Kieren Fallon was accused of deliberately giving away the lead in a race at Lingfield. Inattentive riding allowed another horse to pass Fallon’s short-odd favourite mount, an event which immediately drew the attention of the press. The situation escalated rapidly, with Fallon arrested in September of 2004 and charged with conspiracy to defraud.

Fortunately for Fallon the evidence against him didn’t stand up in court. His response to this reprieve was, however, unusual.

Fallon decided to start on a course of banned substances, and was soon caught out by the French racing authorities and suspended from racing for 6 months. Since then Fallon has twice more returned positive tests for banned substances, and can look forward to a return to the saddle when well into his eighties.

National hunt dopes

In national hunt racing, tricksters have got around the risks of taking banned substances by feeding the substances to racehorses instead. Whilst poisoning has long been the most popular route to scratching a more competitive opponent from the card, modern fraudsters appear to make do with less terminal interventions.

Take the events of 1997 which saw jockeys Dean Gallagher, Jamie Osborne and Leighton Aspell come under close scrutiny when their short odds horses tested positive for banned substances in a national hunt race. Charges were that the horses had been drugged into losing to benefit long-odds punters.

Fortunately for the three jockeys the trial once again ran afoul of the demands of the legal system and all three were eventually freed to return to their lives in horseracing. Nevertheless the event sparked a return to vigilance that might go along way towards explaining why Andrew Thornton was slapped with a 10 day ban for taking a wrong turn.

For more drama and action the Cheltenham Festival is just around the corner with the highly acclaimed Cheltenham Champion Hurdle Race presenting some interesting opportunities for many a bettor.

At Swishing Party Swap Your Clothes to Save Earth

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Sunday 26 October 2008 10:54 pm

In UK, according to BBC report, a latest craze of a unique party trend has charmed almost all the fashionable party loving women. Surely, these fashionable party animals assemble together to drink and dance.

But what follows after the merry making session is something stunning and rare. They start swapping! Yes..they start swapping, however, nothing but their old fashionable accessories and clothes.

According to the party rules, every participant has to bring any fashion accessory or fashion apparel, of course it has to be an old one but should be valuable. Then, these contributions are hung up on drying racks or hangers only to be swapped later.

After several rounds of wines, they wait for a whistle, completely entranced. No sooner than the whistle blows, after the drinks, than they start racing towards those old fashion products. The party rules allow a lady to choose as many things she wants, even if she had contributed a single dress or something else.

These unique parties have come up with some unique solutions and benefits too. Amazingly, the biggest beneficiary is nothing but our own loving earth which we are trying hard to save. Amazing enough…a party can save the earth! How?

About 900,000 tonnes of fashion garbage is dumped, according to a textile recycling charity, Traid, in UK every year. So, if such parties become common, a heap of to-be-dumped fashion products can go to other’s wardrobes instead of being thrown away.

Apart from saving the planet’s climate, it has another benefit too. It can help you save huge amount also. Won’t you prefer to go for a skirt, though old one but in good condition, which may cost more than $75 or so.

Yes..your search and urge for such parties, after knowing this much, is natural and practical. Step out of your home, please, and look out when such a party is held near you. Probably, there goes a swishing party tonight!

Here, you can find out more of Fashion Apparel.
